Final Shipment Plan

Now that we have solved all problems (non-certified batteries and defective power adapters) we are able to communicate a final solid shipment date out from the factory and to all backers: May 6th, 2019.

We are very sorry about the initial problems and delays but we are now more than fully confident that we will be able to ship on the date above. 

Why? Because we have actually already built, carefully tested and packed more than thousand units (two pallets), however not of the PrintBrush XDR yet but of its sister product e-mark which is the version for our partners Colop. They have also experienced the same delays as us and have huge pressure from their own customers to deliver.

Since they are the ones that have sponsored the whole industrialization program (so that our backers didn’t have to), funded all manufacturing tooling and took all the major risks out of the project, then they also have the right to demand changes on the original shipment plan.

We now know that we can program the printer units with the latest firmware, test them with the new power adapter, run a fully functional test and pack them at the rate of 150 units per day.  Therefore we need another 10 working days to prepare the 1583 PrintBrush XDR units that we need to ship to all backers.

Firmware update

From the first few units that we shipped to backers, we have got very useful feedback. The most important feedback was about the spitting function (the printer spits a little bit of ink when it is lifted up from the docking station to prepare for a very nice printout from the very first column). The amount of spitting or ink spray was experienced as excessive. In the latest firmware upgrade we have introduced a very small amount of default spitting and in the app we have implemented something called dynamic printing scheme which automatically increases the amount of spitting over time. If the printer is idle over a long period of time (several months), it can partially dry out even if it is on the docking station. In such case, it would need a good amount of spitting to recover to a good working state.

We have inspected few boxes out of the new batch of power adapters ( more than 7000 pcs) and found zero defects or non-working adapters. We are also testing every single adapter that we pack along the printer units. We are now fully confident that this batch has no defective units.

Final packaging 

We have now also received the final packaging design for the PrintBrush XDR. The inner box is done with 500 gms matte native black carton material and with a printed sleeve around it. The inner box has an embossed glossy lacked logo on the front. We hope you like it. This is how it looks like:

Product support

We are seriously planning to have a small product support center running 24/7 where we can assist our backers with all kinds of issues starting with setting up the printer but also troubleshooting and tips for usage. The main way of communication will be via chat and email but even telephone support. If all of you receive your units approximately at the same time, then please consider that they might be some waiting time to get response. 

We will be releasing firmware and software upgrades from time to time after the units are shipped. These upgrades will be based upon the feedback we get from you, so we kindly ask you to tell us what you think about our product and its performance.
